Welcome to the Jinja Women Association

Women Association (JWA) is a an organisation working under a MOU since 2001. It is women led and majority of their beneficiaries are women and girls. JWA is registered with the Ministry of Gender and Community Development as Community Based Organizations (CBO) since 2001 working in Jinja District.

Vision

Our vision is to have a healthy productive and self reliant population free from abuse and discrimination where all have full potential to explore their opportunities.

Mission

JWA exists to empower women and girls so as to reclaim and safeguard their basic rights through advancement of education, good health, food security, equal opportunities, economic and political empowerment.

Overall Goal:

To empower women and girls to form a bargaining forum, to promote equal opportunities for social economic and political wellbeing.

Specific Objectives

  • To raise awareness of basic human rights especially of women, girls and disabled persons
  • To promote reproductive health among young people
  • To Promote food security and nutrition
  • To Promote entrepreneurship for self reliance
  • To Safeguard girl child education
  • To Promote savings and access to credit
  • To Provide vocational skills training
  • To Promote community outreach programmes (counseling, guidance ,mentoring, follow-ups)
  • To promote Social research through Needs Assessment, Baseline surveys, community mapping, profiling and Census.
